Our Driver Knowledge Test classes are designed for those with little English to understand the road rules and prepare for the online driver knowledge test, while our Learner Driver Program provides learner drivers with the practical on-road driving experience with a volunteer driver mentor in the SydWest car.
We offer the first two driving sessions free and a discounted rate for subsequent sessions. Our aim is to ease the financial pressure off newly arrived refugees, humanitarian entrants and others within the community who are suffering financial hardship. We realise that getting a license and ultimately becoming mobile is a big factor in empowering people to access education and employment.
One client, Muskan from Afghanistan has been in Australia for four years and recently obtained her P’s after attending the Dari and Farsi speaking Driver Knowledge Test classes at our Mt Druitt office.
“I attended the classes for 10 weeks. Having Maryam translate the information in our language made understanding the Australian road rules so much easier. The access to the computer and internet was also very helpful. Getting my licence will give me the freedom to travel. Having your license is like wearing shoes – you can’t go out without shoes,” Muskan said.
